Introducing Linux Spotlight

Big Daddy Linux is excited to present a new series – Linux Spotlight. This show is dedicated to showing off the best thing about Linux…the community. The Linux community is comprised of enthusiasts from a variety of backgrounds, from developers and distro maintainers to Linux personalities and everyday users. Each of these members plays a big role in the community. The goal of Linux Spotlight is to have a discussion with these individuals about their journey into Linux and beyond.

Linux Spotlight EP05 – English Bob

English Bob aka “EB” is a well-known, respected, and sometimes feared (not really…we love him) personality in the Linux community. He is first a husband and father and second a passionate Linux advocate who particularly likes distros starting with the letter P. His early aspirations of becoming a salesman weren’t meant to be as life steered him toward his real strenghts, working with people and fostering community.

Linux Spotlight EP04 – Dan Simmons

Dan describes himself as a husband and father who works in Network Management. Starting with computers at age 5 he has enjoyed technology ever since, including Amateur (Ham) Radio. He became interested in Linux because it was different and an install CD of Breezy Badger handed to him years ago sealed the deal. As a member of the Lubuntu team, he asks that people support their favorite distros and software, even just saying thanks.

Linux Spotlight EP03 – Ryan DasGeek

Rocco welcomes Ryan aka DasGeek as they discuss his early life computers and how it shaped him and his love for technology. He talks about getting started with Linux and how important community is. Besides being busy as a father, husband and a career in Telecommunications, he is a presenter on the Destination Linux podcast, YouTuber, blogger and organizes local Linux meetups.

Linux Spotlight EP02 – Adam Grubbs

This episode features self-proclaimed turbo nerd Adam Grubbs. Adam describes his lifelong love of computers, from his early days with an Apple IIe to his current role as an Infrastructure Engineer. He is open minded, using whatever OS suits the situation (Mac/Windows/Linux). His favorite part about Linux is the community. Adam also enjoys flying his drone.

Linux Spotlight EP01 – ZebedeeBoss

In this episode Rocco shines the spotlight on ZebedeeBoss. We find out about his wonderful family, his passion for Badminton, his day job in software testing, how he came up with his nickname and how he uses Linux to “relax” (hint: there may be some caravan wreckage involved).
